Aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has denied allegations levelled against him by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Miracles Aboagye, who recently declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party's National Communications Director position, was arrested at the Accra International Airport on Saturday, July 11.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has said Miracles Aboagye and former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah are being investigated over suspected offences including conspiracy to steal, stealing, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering and other alleged financial crimes involving about GH¢55 million.

Although he was granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two of whom must be justified, on Monday, July 13, he was only able to meet the bail conditions on Tuesday evening, leading to his release.

In a social media post on Wednesday, Miracles Aboagye claimed investigators never questioned him about any alleged GH¢55 million during his detention, describing claims to the contrary as false.

"FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO Discussion OF ANY GH¢55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!"

"Four days ago, just one day after I declared my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was picked up and detained by EOCO. A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth, will prevail!!" he wrote.

Miracles Aboagye thanked party supporters, his legal team and the leadership of the NPP for standing by him throughout the period of his detention, saying their support kept him encouraged.

He further stated that the detention had strengthened rather than weakened his resolve.

Miracles Aboagye added that he remained committed to pursuing the NPP National Communications Director position and would not be intimidated by the events surrounding his arrest.
