Aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has stated that he remains in high spirits despite spending three days in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Miracles Aboagye, who recently declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party's National Communications Director position, was arrested at the Accra International Airport on Saturday, July 11.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has said Miracles Aboagye and former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah are being investigated over suspected offences including conspiracy to steal, stealing, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering and other alleged financial crimes involving about GH¢55 million.
Although he was granted bail of GH¢50 million with three sureties, two of whom must be justified, on Monday, July 13, he was only able to satisfy the bail conditions on Tuesday evening, leading to his release.
In a social media post on Wednesday, the NPP communicator rejected the allegations levelled against him, insisting that investigators never discussed any alleged GH¢55 million with him during his detention.
"Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead New Patriotic Party's Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that," he stated.
"FOR THE RECORDS: THERE WAS NO Discussion OF ANY GH¢55million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!" Miracles Aboagye stressed.
He also thanked party supporters, his legal team and the leadership of the NPP for standing by him throughout the period of his detention, saying their support kept his spirits high.
Miracles Aboagye further described his release as the beginning of a renewed political journey, declaring that he remained determined and ready for the task ahead.
