Ghanaian socialite and influencer Adjoa Tee has opened up about her disappointment after singer Wendy Shay missed out on the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The top honour on the night eventually went to Black Sherif, whose remarkable year in music earned him the prestigious title.
Speaking in an interview with Bessah GH after the awards ceremony, Adjoa Tee revealed that she was deeply emotional over Wendy Shay’s loss and even shed tears following the announcement.
According to her, she had strongly campaigned for Wendy Shay on social media ahead of the awards because she genuinely believed the Rufftown Records artiste deserved to win the ultimate prize.
Adjoa Tee explained that her emotional reaction came from how much she wanted the singer to succeed on the night.
“When you want something so badly and it doesn’t happen the way you hoped, it becomes emotional,” she stated during the interview.
Wendy Shay was one of the most talked-about artistes heading into the awards, thanks to her consistency, hit songs, performances, and strong presence throughout the year. Although she missed out on the biggest award, many fans and industry players have continued to praise her impact on the Ghanaian music scene.
Meanwhile, Black Sherif’s victory has also been widely celebrated, with many describing his win as well-deserved after another successful year in his music career.
