Media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has urged gospel artistes to take a more active interest in award schemes and not hesitate to voice their displeasure when outcomes do not favor them.

Speaking on United Showbiz, she contributed to the ongoing discussions surrounding the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), emphasizing the need for gospel musicians to assert their relevance within the industry.

According to MC Yaa Yeboah, gospel artistes invest significant time, resources, and creativity into their craft, and therefore deserve recognition and appreciation just like their counterparts in secular music.

She stressed that beyond spiritual impact, gospel music is also a professional endeavor, and artistes should not shy away from demanding value for their work, including financial rewards and industry recognition.

“Gospel artistes put in a lot of work, and they deserve to be praised and even paid for their services,” she stated.

MC Yaa Yeboah further encouraged artistes and their public relations teams to openly express concerns when they feel overlooked, adding that constructive debate around nominations and awards can help improve transparency and fairness in the system.

She explained that speaking up is not an act of disrespect but rather a necessary step in advocating for one’s work and ensuring that deserving talents are duly acknowledged.

According to her, artistes should confidently present reasons why they merit nominations and, more importantly, why they should win, as part of healthy industry discourse.
