The late veteran Ghanaian actor William Addo and his wife, Agnes Dewornu Akortor‑Addo, will be laid to rest on July 4, 2026, at Tefle in the Volta Region.
William Addo, a respected figure in Ghana’s film industry, passed away on November 22, 2025. His wife, Agnes Akortor‑Addo, died months later on May 21, 2026, plunging the family into double mourning.
According to the family, funeral activities will commence on Friday, July 3, 2026, with the conveyance of the couple’s remains from the Sogakope District Hospital Morgue to the Dzavier Family House in Tefle. The family has announced that there will be no wake‑keeping.
On Saturday, July 4, a laying‑in‑state, viewing, and filing past will be held at the Dzavier Family House from 5:00 a.m., followed by a burial service at Dzavieto, also in Tefle. The couple will then be interred at the Dzavier Family Cemetery.
Final funeral rites will be observed on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at the House of Prayer Ministry in Tefle.
William Addo, affectionately known in the entertainment industry for his decades‑long contribution to Ghanaian cinema, remained one of the country’s most revered veteran actors.
