Spokesperson for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), Robert Klah, has clarified why popular music duo DopeNation failed to secure nominations for the 2026 awards despite their hit song 'Kakalika' gaining significant attention.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo Welewele on Okay FM, Robert Klah disclosed that the awards scheme duly monitored and captured the works of DopeNation during the year under review.

According to him, the TGMA team even reached out to the duo with the intention of including their works in the scheme for consideration. However, he explained that the process requires the consent and active participation of the artiste or their management before any entry can be officially submitted.

He emphasized that the scheme cannot unilaterally include an artiste without their approval, noting that attempts to do so in the past have not yielded positive outcomes.

Robert Klah revealed that despite efforts to engage DopeNation’s camp, the necessary feedback and confirmation required to proceed with their nomination were not received. This, he said, ultimately led to their absence from this year’s nominations list.

He further stressed that the TGMA has since adopted a more structured and respectful approach when it comes to artiste inclusion, ensuring that every nomination is backed by the full consent of the artiste or their representatives.
