Nigerian sensational female singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, says music made her rush in her journey in education.

The Marvin Records signee has revealed that she completed her tertiary education at the age of 18.

In an interview with the Kenyan-based Nairobi News, the "Away" hitmaker said her mother told her to finish university before she could allow her to pursue her music career.

Ayra, who then knew music was her thing, hurriedly took her WAEC examination a year before her classmates and entered the university right away.

Growing up, the famed crooner said she had a dream of becoming a pop star in her teens, hence her decision to complete her education at age 18.

"My career didn’t start until I was 18 years old. So my mum said I had to go to school first before she allowed me to do any kind of music.

"So it was school first, school first. I had a dream of becoming a teenage pop star, so I made sure I finished school early. So I did my WAEC a year before I was supposed to write," she revealed.

Ayra Starr said she completed the university with a first degree in International Relations and Political Science and is willing to get other degrees as well.

"I already have a degree in international relations and political science," she said, adding that she is currently taking some piano and French lessons.
