Highlife legend Jewel Ackah Laid To Rest

The mortal remains of the late Jewel Ackah, who died on April 27 at his residence at Community 11 in Tema, was laid to rest last Saturday at Axim, his hometown in the Western Region.

The burial ceremony of the late veteran highlife musician, which was held at the Complex Park, Tema, attracted a number of personalities, including musicians and stakeholders in the creative arts industry, who filed past his body and paid their last respect.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, former organiser of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan, Mr Kofi Totobi-Quakyi and a host of NDC officials were there to mourn with the family.

Some of the musicians who attended were Rex Omar, Bessa Simons, A.B. Crenstsil, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Amandzeba Nat Brew, Rev Yawson, Silas Yankson, Kofi Bentil, Willi Roi, Naa Amanua of Wulomei fame, Pozo Hayes, Tagoe Sisters, Aka Blay, D’Cryme, e-shun, Tahymn and a host of others.

The Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Mr Otto, represented the minister. He was accompanied by the president of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF).

There were musical performances after the burial ceremony and some of the musicians who performed at the ceremony were Akablay, Silas Yankson, A.B Crenstil and a host of others.
