Two arrested over alleged possession and trafficking of suspected narcotics at Kasoa

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 2 suspects in connection with the alleged possession and trafficking of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The Police said the items retrieved from the suspects included 6 yellow sellotaped parcels containing dried leaves labelled “Green Gold”, 2 transparent zip-lock bags containing dried leaves and another zip-lock bag containing a whitish substance.

Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Nchor, said the first suspect, Asando Asakiba, was arrested on September 20, 2026, after officers intercepted a Voxy minibus at the Kasoa High Tension snap-check point at about 2:30 a.m.

According to him, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in Asakiba’s possession.

DCOP Nchor said further interrogation led Asakiba to identify Beatrice Amegashie, a resident of Ayikai Dobro near Amasaman, as the alleged owner of the substances.

He reportedly told investigators that the items were intended for delivery to a person identified only as Akos in Tarkwa.

The Police subsequently searched Amegashie’s residence, where additional substances suspected to be narcotic drugs were allegedly found.

The two suspects have since been remanded into Police custody by the court as investigations continue.
