Jo Wood (ex-wife of Rolling Stones' guitarist Ronnie Wood) helped raised an impressive £20,000 for the Education Africa charity auction at the Shaka Zulu restaurant in Camden, London, last night.
The South African native took to the stage to judge customised mannequin heads designed by attendees (including her own) to raise £4,000 towards the £20,000 target in aid to support education equality in South Africa.
The night included an eccentric performance from stilt walkers, contortionists, fire jugglers to a 60 inch yellow snake; plus a live musical set from singer/songwriter and auctioneer Fil Straughan and a Marimba (Xylophone) performance by the Education Africa children who were specially flown in for the occasion.
Shaka Zulu has supported the non-profit charity (Education Africa) since its opening in August 2010 by the Zulu King, HM Goodwill Zwelithini and the late Amy Winehouse, in its fight to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children gain access to a better education for a brighter future.
Shaka Zulu Founder and Friends of Education Africa (UK) Trustee, Roger Payne says: “Tens of thousands of Africans continue to benefit from Education Africa's project and I encourage you to support them as well so they can continue to help those with a basic human right to get an education.”
