Angolan Beauty and Model, Samaia Tchapesseka has been crowned the Miss Black Africa UK 2012. She was crowned last night in front of a large audience at the Royal regency Hall, London.
The 17-year-old from Angola beat 19 other finalists to clinch the crown. A panel of five judges scored on swimsuit and fitness, cultural wear, evening wear and interview rounds. Samaia's mission is to raise awareness on the issue of child abuse and steps to combat the growing problem.
The 1st Runner up was Kalay Wattu from Sierra Leone and the 2nd Runner up was Assitou Nsika from the Republic of Congo. Other Awards were Amie Joof of the Gambia(Most Proactive), samaia Tchapesseka(Best catwalk Model) and Assitou Nsika(Miss Congeniality).
For the charity awards section, outgoing queen Ruvimbo Chizou received the golden heart award for her outstanding work in the last year and Justina Mutale Received the Diamond heart award for her Positive Runway:Global Catwalk to stop the spread: A worldwide campaign to sensitize citizens of the world against HIV/AIDS. The shining star award went to the Mother of Peace Charity for their work in Africa.
Judges included: African Woman of the year 2012 Justina Mutale, International designer Adebayo Jones, BBC Big Brother Star Heaven Afrika, CEO House of Adjeiwaah - Abena Adjeiwaah and Kunle Lawani. Hosts of the Night were Mc Mark (Comedian of United Nations) and Model and Actress Arna Walts. The event was coordinated by ITV's Models. Misfits and Mayhem star Mr Fierce a.k.a Catwalk Professor.
