Head coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah has handed Bayern Munich striker, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt a call-up to Ghana’s upcoming international friendly matches against Japan and Iceland in Yokohama and Reykjavík respectively.
Okyere Wriedt earns his first national team call-up days after announcing his decision to represent Ghana on Monday.
The promising youngster was the top scorer for Bayern Munich’s amateur side pledge his allegiance to Ghana despite attempts by Germany to tie him down.
The German Champions confirmed the player has been invited for the game on May 30.
"Great award for Otschi Wriedt! The top scorer of the amateurs of Bayern was nominated for the upcoming international matches of the national team of Ghana," a statement on fcbayern.com reads.
"The team of coach Kwesi Appiah tests against two World Cup participants. Ghana meets on May 30 in Yokohama for the selection of Japan. The Icelandic national team will play in Reykjavík on 7 June." he added.
Black Stars assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko convinced the 23-year-old to consider playing for his native country after meeting with him in Germany.
