Wa All Stars Head Coach Blast Reginald Lathbridge

Head coach of Wa All Stars, Abubakari Mumuni Sokpari has slammed referee Reginald Lethbridge for his side’s defeat in the semifinal of the 2017 MTN FA Cup.

All-Stars were crashed out of the knockout competition after being downed 2-1 by Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Goals from Patrick Razak and Kwame Kizito in each half to propelled the Phobians into the finals which will be played later this month in Tamale.

However, coach Sokpari feels his team’s chances in the game was continuously frustrated by the center referee.

“You could have also seen the behavior of the referee,” he said.

“Based on the cautionable offenses, the yellow card issued to my players. Hearts of Oak players committed the same offenses but they were left unpunished.

“You carry FIFA’s motto onto the field of play and what is FIFA’s motto? Fair Play! Which we didn’t see.

“So in a way, officiating frustrated the game because my boys were of the view that the referee was for Hearts of Oak.

“And the moment that thing comes into your mind, your mind is divided.” He added.
