'I’m like Akpeteshie, I don’t need adverts to win' – Hawa Koomson storms home turf

Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson, NPP National Women’s Organizer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has returned to her home region to formally declare her bid for the position ahead of the party’s National Executives election.

Hawa Koomson visited the NPP’s Central Regional office in Cape Coast, where 73 women executives and 29 TESCON executives received her with pledges of support, assuring her of their mandate to lead the party’s women’s wing.

“Bless me with your prayers and thumb during the National Executives elections to bring glory to the Central Region and continue the good work,” she told the gathering, appealing to delegates to back her massively at the polls.

The former Minister of Fisheries and ex-MP for Awutu Senya East has also proposed reforms to NPP rules that would allow all female delegates at the National Delegates Conference not just a select few to vote for the National Women’s Organiser.

Confident in her track record, Hawa Koomson said she needs no huge campaign to win the seat.

“Akpeteshie doesn’t advertise itself, and I am like akpeteshie I don’t need any adverts to win the National Women’s Organiser position. My achievements in the NPP will advertise for me,” she said.

She argued that the women’s wing needs experienced, courageous and unifying grassroots leadership to restore confidence within the party and position the NPP for victory in the 2028 elections.

Central Regional female executives and TESCON members, led by Regional Women’s Organiser Madam Charlotte Adowa Antwi, declared their full backing for her candidacy.
