Liberty Professionals attacking midfielder Latif Blessing scored twice as the scientific soccer lads thrashed Division One League campaigners Elmina Sharks 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2015/2016 MTN FA Cup competition at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, Accra.
The highly anticipated clash lived to its billing as the two sides entertained the crowd with a high tempo game which saw the first half ending in a goalless.
The visitors (Elmina Sharks) took charge of the midfield where Benjamin Tweneboah, Joseph Debitorah, and Isaac Mensah gave Liberty Professionals’ Ebo Mends and Gerard Ackerson little room to operate.
Liberty Professionals accelerated at a top speed right from the recess and scored two quick goals within three minutes to shut the Sharks.
Latif Blessing made it 3-0 for Liberty midway through the second half with a grandiose volley to seal a semi final berth for the scientific soccer lads. Liberty Professionals will face the winner of the Okwahu United versus WAFA game which will be played today at the Nkawkaw Park.
Meanwhile, Premier League leaders, Wa All Stars had a real shock on Saturday when they lost 0-1 to Wa Rockets courtesy Benson Akosah’s first half goal.
