The Detroit Lions have announced that teammates Ezekiel Ansah and Calvin Johnson will represent the team at next year’s Pro Bowl game. The Pro Bowl is American football’s all-star game to showcase the very best players in the National Football League (NFL).
This is the first call up to the Pro Bowl for Ansah, who plays in the defensive end for the Detroit Lions. Before he was drafted by the Lions in 2013, he had played college football for his university team; BYU Cougars. He had high hopes of being a basketball player but failed to make the cut and decided to try American football; which was completely unknown to him growing up in Ghana.
Ansah, 26, was born in Accra and attended the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) from 2004 to 2007. After graduation, “Ziggy” Ansah as he is affectionately called; gained admission to the Brigham Young University (BYU) in the US state of Utah.
The Pro Bowl will be played at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii on 31st January, 2016, a week ahead of the Super Bowl.
