Kwesi Nyantakyi president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), who doubles as the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee was advised by the Executive Committee, the highest decision making body of the Ghana FA to step down as Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, sources close to Allsports.com.gh can confirm.
Following the failure of the Black Stars to progress from the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil amidst issues of players' agitation for the payment of appearance fees before and after matches, in addition to indiscipline in camp, the Executive Committee on Tuesday asked Kwesi Nyantakyi to relinquish his post as the management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars, which he accepted to do so.
They think that holding these two important positions wouldn't allow Nyantakyi to concentrate on his core duties as the GFA boss.
The Ghana FA held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and as part of the FA president's address, he said there is going to be changes in the Black Stars Management Committee, in a way to confirm the Executive Committee meeting held earlier on.
The Black Stars Management Committee Chairmanship has undergone several changes. Several years back, the FA president was at the same time the Chairman of the Black Management Committee, but it was during Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe's era that he relinquished his position as the Chairman of the latter in order to concentrate on his core job as the FA president.
When Kwesi Nyantakyi took over, he allowed what his predecessor started to continue by appointing his Vice, Fred Pappoe as the Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee from 2005 to 2011, however in his second term as the FA boss he reverted back to old order of the GFA president doubling as the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars.
