The Chief of Ghana's 2014 Commonwealth Games team, Ben Nunoo Mensah is confident that the nation's contingent will improve upon the four medals won at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games by sweeping at least 12 medals at the Glasgow 2014 Games.
“I believe that this Commonwealth Games will probably be the best that Ghana has ever participated in and trust me, we will come home with anything not less than 12 medals,” Mr. Nunoo Mensah said.
The Sports Minister Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has stated that he is expecting the national sports teams to win more medals at this year's Commonwealth Games compared to the three bronze and one silver medal Ghana won four years ago.
With five months to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which will be held from July 23 to August 3rd, there are plans for Ghana's contingent to hold at least a one-month camping in Europe ahead of the multi-sport competition, according to Ben Nunoo Mensah.
“I have just mentioned to the Committee that we are planning that Team Ghana could have at least a one-month camping in Europe before the Games start. So, if all these things go well, I should believe that by the 23rd of July Team Ghana should be ready for Games at least to give off our best,” he said. Story by Ghana/Myjoyonline/ Joy Sports
