Kumasi will now host the GoTV Wafu Cup next month for eight West African teams, the Local Organizing Committee has confirmed.
The Ghanaian capital, Accra was initially selected as the host city but a change of venue has become necessary after the National Sports Authority stated that the Accra Stadium has already been booked for a program around the same time the sub-regional tournament will be taking place.
The LOC has thus decided to move the eight-team competition which starts on November 21-28 to the Ashanti Regional capital.
The competition is reserved for only home-based players of member nations.
Ghana are drawn in Group A with Sierra Leone Benin and Burkina Faso.
In the Group B, defending champions Togo are the top seeds and they will face competition from Niger, Senegal and Gabon.
Winners of the two groups will progress to the final while the second placed team in each group will vie for third position.
