A SOCCER ACADEMY of international standards to help develop youth football in the country will soon be built at Komfoko near the Essipong Stadium at Sekondi-Takoradi.

A brainchild of United Soccer Training Academy, based in Pennsylvania, USA, the soccer academy would be built on a 10-acre land just three kilometers from the Essipong Stadium.

Currently, officials of the United Soccer Training Academy are in the country putting finishing touches to the academy estimated to be worth one million US Dollars whose works are expected to start this year.

In a chat with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, Bob, Founder and International Operations Director of the United Soccer Training Academy, said his academy wants to change the way Ghanaians see youth football.

He said he had held fruitful talks with officials of W-Consult, owned by Wahid and Eddie, who are also into youth soccer development in Ghana.

Bob said the academy would also provide the youth with proper education, housing and medical care, stressing that the youth would also be imbibed with spiritual guidance through prayers.

The academy, which would house 90 players, Bob stated, would also boast of several amenities including pitches, changing rooms, medical facilities, synthetic pitches and offices just to mention a few.

Bob said the project was capital intensive so he called for support from the Ghana government and all those that had the development of the youth at heart to come to their aid.

He said the academy, besides providing future football stars for Ghana, would also help prevent several children from becoming drug addicts, smokers, drunkards among other social vices.

Bob is in the country with Phil Brogan, formerly of Manchester United who is currently the International Academy Director of the United Soccer Training Academy to scout for players.

United Soccer Training Academy staff in the country consist of Abraham, Ghana Manager, Coach Isaac Paha, Africa Academy Director, Abraham Nii, Chief Scout in Ghana, Louis Ken Coffie and Sebastian Quarshie, Coach of the Academy.
