Accra, Oct 4, GNA - Black Satellites coach, Orlando Wellington is yearning to be second time lucky with Fiorentina as he hands another invitation to budding midfielder, Daniel Kofi Agyei.
The Italian Serie A side refused to release Agyei at the first time as the Satellites readied for Ghana's Africa Youth Championship (AYC) final qualifier in Benin a fortnight ago and coach Wellington hopes the story will be different this time round.
He told GNA Sports the 18-year-oldmidfielder, regarded as a key player by Fiorentina's Manager, Siniša Mihajlovic will play a pivotal role when the Satellites gather for their second leg duel against Benin in search of qualifying for the AYC later in the month.
Coach Wellington said "I hope the Fiorentina coach would have had first hand information about Agyei's capabilities by now and can afford to give him the chance to play for us."
Fiorentina initially declined to release the midfielder insisting Agyei was key to their first team plans and wanted the new coach, Mihajlovic to gain a first hand information about his abilities.
Agyei trained with the Black Satellites in the off-season and even though is yet to star competitively, coach Wellington tells GNA Sports he is well aware of the quality the youngster brings.
Voted the best player in an Italian youth tournament, 'the 42nd Torneo Citta di Vignola' - last week, the Satellite trainer says Agyei's inclusion will further light up their quest to qualify for the biannual event and defend the trophy they won in Rwanda in 2009.
The Satellites won 2-0 in Benin in the first leg and need at least a draw in the return leg slated for the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Saturday, October 23 to qualify for the finals of the 2011 AYC slated for Libya.
