One of Ghana's finest boxing promoters, Eddy Du Plan has urged boxing lovers and the laypersons alike to rally behind boxing great Azumah Nelson in the sale of his boxing career DVD premiered in Accra on Saturday.
Mr Du Plan pointed out that the boxing icon succeeded through his singular effort in ruling the boxing world for over a decade, noting, “He did everything in the ring himself to place Ghana on the world map.
This is the time we have to demonstrate our love by patronizing the DVD and contributing to the Azumah Nelson Foundation.”
“It's high time we joined him raise his second baby, that is patronizing the DVD that captures his boxing career intended to support the Azumah Nelson Foundation,” said Mr Du Plan.
To the former boxing promoter, patronizing the DVD and contributing to the Foundation's Standard Chartered Bank account number 010-012-427-9300 will help Azumah to accomplish his mission of supporting the underprivileged.
The Azumah Nelson Foundation launched a few years ago, among other things seeks to help very needy children in school to realize their sporting, especially boxing potentials.
It was Ray Quarcoo, chairman of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) who partnered Mr Dave Harper, the CEO of GEODRILL, a mining company, to put the works of the boxing professor on a Sam Kessie-directed DVD.
And indications are that a comprehensive book on the iconic boxer who reigned supreme in the WBC Feather, Super Feather and the Junior Light weights divisions will be out soon.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Reuben Nii Nortey Dua, who witnessed the premiere which attracted a large following, commended Messrs Quarcoo and Harper for the initiative intended to offer the youth in the country the opportunity to realize their potential.
For details on the DVD, interested persons should contact 0244-850-956 or 021-913-548.
