Ghana defender Portia Boakye has been named among the 10 nominees for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women's Player of the Year award.
Boakye is the only Ghanaian included on the shortlist announced by CAF ahead of this year's awards ceremony.
Her nomination follows her performances for the Black Queens at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she featured in five matches and provided one assist as Ghana progressed to the quarter-finals.
The defender faces competition from some of the continent's leading players, including Zambia's Barbra Banda and Malawi's Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga.
South Africa's Thembi Kgatlana, Morocco's Hanane Aït El Haj and Algeria's Marine Dafeur have also been shortlisted.
Cameroon have three representatives in the category, with Marie Ngah Manga, Michaely Bihina and Monique Ngock all earning nominations.

Boakye's inclusion gives Ghana representation in one of the major individual categories at this year's awards.
The Black Queens have also been nominated for the Women's National Team of the Year award, taking Ghana's representation to three women's categories at the 2026 CAF Awards.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 7, when the continent's outstanding players, coaches and teams will be recognised for their achievements during the eligibility period.
