FC Samartex 1996 general manager Edmund Ackah has vowed to resign from his position if the club engages in any illegal activities, including match-fixing.
Ackah made the declaration during an interview with Asempa FM, expressing confidence in the club's leadership and management while making it clear that he would not tolerate any wrongdoing.
“I will resign from FC Samartex if the club engages in anything illegal or match-fixing,” he said.
Ackah has played a key role in Samartex's rise in Ghanaian football since taking up the position of general manager, helping the club win their maiden Ghana Premier League title in the 2023/24 season.
Meanwhile, the Samartex official has expressed disappointment over the reported decision not to televise the club's home matches.
According to Ackah, the club had been told that its location and the distance involved were among the reasons its games were not being broadcast.
“I have heard that our games are not on television because of where we are located and the distance, but that is not fair,” he said.
He also questioned concerns about the suitability of the club's home venue for live coverage, citing the security arrangements at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
“Our stadium is safe because there are CCTV cameras everywhere, so I don't know why there will be that decision not to air our games,” he added.
Samartex will now turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League, where they hope to return to winning ways after dropping points away against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.
They are scheduled to host Bibiani Gold Stars at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in their Matchday Nine fixture this weekend.
