2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Moroccan referee Mustapha Kechchaf to officiate Ghana v Gambia game

Moroccan referee Mustapha Kechchaf has been appointed to officiate Ghana's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia.

Kechchaf will take charge of the Group C encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, 29 September.

He will be assisted by compatriot Lahsen Azgaou, who has been named Assistant Referee I.

Tunisian officials Yassine Saadaoui and Amir Loucif have been appointed Assistant Referee II and Fourth Official respectively.

Liberia's Sekou Wieh Konneh will serve as Match Commissioner, while Nigeria's Abel Baba has been appointed Referee Assessor.

Ghana's Danny Adotey will oversee media operations as Broadcast Venue Manager.

The Black Stars head into the fixture seeking a response after suffering a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast in their opening Group C qualifier in Bouake last Thursday.

Malick Yalcouye opened the scoring for the hosts before Franck Kessie converted a second-half penalty to give Ivory Coast all three points.

The defeat has increased the importance of Tuesday's meeting with The Gambia, with Ghana aiming to get their qualification campaign back on track.

The Black Stars are also seeking a return to the AFCON finals after missing out on the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Carlos Queiroz's side will face a Gambian team that began its qualifying campaign with a positive result and will also be determined to strengthen its position in Group C.
