Former Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif is expected to appear before Parliament's Youth and Sports Committee on Thursday to answer questions over expenditure related to Ghana's hosting of the 2023 African Games.
The committee is investigating spending on the Games following a forensic audit by the Ghana Audit Service, which identified financial irregularities and alleged procurement breaches amounting to more than GH¢580 million.
Ussif, who was Sports Minister during the tournament, is expected to respond to questions about the ministry's role in procurement decisions and the management of expenditure for the event.
His appearance comes a day after current Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and former Local Organising Committee (LOC) Executive Chairman Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare appeared before the committee.
Dr Ofosu-Asare told lawmakers that the LOC was not responsible for procurement, insisting that the process was handled by the Ministry of Sports.
The committee is expected to continue its inquiry as it seeks further clarification on the procurement and spending decisions made during Ghana's hosting of the continental multi-sport event.
