Morocco forward Soufiane Rahimi has become Al Ain's all-time leading scorer in Asian club competitions after scoring in the UAE side's 4-0 victory over Al-Nassr.

Rahimi scored one of Al Ain's four goals at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in the opening round of the AFC Champions League Elite league stage.

The goal took his tally for the club in Asian competitions to 19, moving him clear of former Al Ain captain Omar Abdulrahman, known as Amoory, and Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan, who had both scored 18 goals.

Rahimi had gone into the match level with the former Al Ain stars but moved to the top of the club's continental scoring chart with his contribution against the Saudi Arabian side.

The 29-year-old has been an important figure for Al Ain since joining the club and played a key role in their run to the 2023-24 AFC Champions League title.

His latest record gives him the chance to extend his lead in the coming matches, with Abdulrahman and Gyan no longer adding to their totals for the club.

Al Ain's emphatic win over Al-Nassr also provided a strong start to their campaign in the expanded AFC Champions League Elite competition.
