U-20 Women's World Cup: Black Princesses are well extremely motivated to win against France - GFA boss Kurt Okraku

Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku believes the Black Princesses' convincing 3-1 victory over South Korea at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup has given the team the confidence needed ahead of their decisive final Group C match against France.

The Black Princesses responded impressively to their opening 3-0 defeat by Ecuador, producing a dominant display at the Sosnowiec Arena on Wednesday to revive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

After controlling much of the first half and creating several chances, Ghana finally broke the deadlock eight minutes after the restart. Sarah Nyarko finished calmly following a slick move involving captain Priscilla Mensah and Agnes Owusu.

The advantage was doubled just two minutes later when Ivy Owusu Ansah unleashed a stunning long-range effort into the top-right corner, leaving South Korea goalkeeper Kim Chaebeen with no chance.

Ruth Amponsah added a third goal in the 84th minute to cap an impressive performance, although South Korea managed a late consolation before the final whistle.

The victory not only ended Ghana's seven-match winless streak at the tournament but also boosted their chances of advancing from the group stage.

Speaking after the match, Okraku said he was unsurprised by the result and expects the performance to provide a major lift for the team ahead of their final group fixture.

"I'm not surprised they won, and they won convincingly. I believe this will give them the needed energy, the needed confidence going into the third group game, and we are all looking forward to another good performance."

Okraku also revealed that morale within the camp remains high, with the players showing strong determination following their setback against Ecuador.

"To be honest, the girls are happy. Everything is on course. They are extremely motivated. For me, what I call natural motivation is very evident in whatever they are doing and it is something that excites me."

The result moved Ghana up to second place in Group C heading into their final group-stage encounter against France.

The Black Princesses now know that avoiding defeat against the French side will be enough to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
