‘Don’t pay any pesewa to EduPack’ — NCPTA warns SHS parents

The National Council of Parents-Teachers Associations, Ghana (NCPTA), has cautioned parents of first-year Senior High School (SHS) students against paying GHS1,617 to EduPack PGL for the purchase of selected prospectus items.

The warning follows what the NCPTA described as an attempt by EduPack PGL, also known as Prospectus Ghana Limited, to direct parents to pay for a metal trunk/suitcase, plastic chop box, Macintosh mattress and Macintosh pillow for collection on SHS campuses.

In a press statement signed by the General Secretary of the NCPTA, Gapson Kofi Raphael, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the NCPTA said EduPack PGL was circulating messages through SMS, WhatsApp and other platforms while allegedly using the name of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The association said GES Management had issued a disclaimer stating that it had “NOT sanctioned, directed or authorized any parent to engage EduPack PGL.”

The NCPTA subsequently urged parents not to make any payment to the company.

“DON’T PAY! We instruct all Ghanaian parents NOT TO PAY ANY MONEY OR BUY ANY ITEM FROM EDUPACK PGL,” the statement said.

The association added that parents had the right to purchase prospectus items from the open market.

“Every parent retains the full and unqualified liberty to purchase prospectus items on the open market as has always been the practice,” it said.

The NCPTA also objected to parents being directed to purchase items from a specific source at a fixed price on school campuses.

“SCHOOL IS NOT A MARKETPLACE! Forcing parents to buy from one source at a fixed price on campus is illegal commercialization of school admission,” the statement said.

The association commended the GES for distancing itself from the practice but called for further action.

It urged the GES to use its legal and administrative powers to warn and sanction heads of schools who allow such sales on their campuses.

The NCPTA also called on the GES to take legal action against EduPack PGL and any entity allegedly using the GES logo to defraud parents.

“Punish the real culprit so others will learn,” the association said.

The NCPTA further urged Regional, District and School PTA executives to remain vigilant and report any such activity to the NCPTA Secretariat and the GES.
