The Miners announced the appointment as the club steps up preparations for the new season, with the 37-year-old set to lead the team into a new chapter following the departure of Swiss coach Fritz Markus Schmid.
Schmid parted ways with GoldStars earlier this month after taking charge of the club during the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Koukouras arrives with significant coaching experience from across East Africa, having built a reputation as one of the emerging European coaches on the continent.
He began his managerial career with Uganda’s Pacific Heroes FC before moving into international football as assistant coach of the South Sudan national team.
The Greek trainer later took charge of Ugandan giants SC Villa Jogoo, where he impressed with his tactical approach, leadership qualities and focus on developing young players.
In July 2023, Koukouras moved to Rwanda to become head coach of Kiyovu Sports, continuing his work in African football and enhancing his reputation as a progressive young coach.
A holder of a UEFA A Licence, Koukouras is recognised for his modern coaching methods, tactical discipline and commitment to youth development.
His appointment is expected to bring fresh ideas and a new direction to Bibiani GoldStars as the club seeks to maintain its competitiveness in the Ghana Premier League and achieve its ambitions in the upcoming season.
Club officials are confident that Koukouras’ international exposure and technical expertise will strengthen the team and help sustain the progress made in recent years.
