Ghana Premier League powerhouse Asante Kotoko have announced the appointment of Stanley Menzo as the club’s new Technical Director as part of efforts to strengthen its football operations ahead of the new season.
The Porcupine Warriors have moved to reinforce their technical structure by bringing in the highly experienced Dutch-Surinamese football figure, who boasts an extensive career spanning both playing and coaching roles.
Born in Paramaribo, Menzo enjoyed a distinguished career as a goalkeeper and remains one of the most respected figures in Dutch football. He rose to prominence with Ajax, where he established himself among Europe’s leading goalkeepers during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
During his successful spell in Amsterdam, Menzo collected several domestic trophies and played a significant role in Ajax’s success on the European stage, helping the club secure major honours, including the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup.
His outstanding performances at club level earned him international recognition, leading to appearances for the Netherlands national football team.
After hanging up his gloves, Menzo successfully transitioned into coaching and football administration. His managerial career has included stints with FC Volendam, Ajax Cape Town and Beijing Guoan.
The 62-year-old also served as Technical Manager of the Aruba national football team, earning praise for his contribution to football development and technical planning.
Most recently, Menzo was in charge of the Suriname national football team, overseeing the team's campaign in qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup before leaving the position ahead of the international playoffs.
At Kotoko, Menzo will be tasked with overseeing the club’s technical direction, talent development programmes, recruitment strategy and overall football philosophy as the Ghanaian giants seek to strengthen their domestic dominance and enhance their competitiveness on the continental stage.
