U-17 Women's World Cup: Black Maidens to face Senegal in final round of qualifiers

Ghana’s Black Maidens will face Senegal in the third and final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after cruising past Liberia with an emphatic 8-0 aggregate victory.

The Black Maidens delivered another dominant performance on Saturday, defeating Liberia 2-0 in the second leg at the SKD Sports Complex in Monrovia to complete a comfortable passage to the final qualifying stage.

Ghana had already taken firm control of the tie with a commanding 6-0 victory in the first leg last week, leaving Liberia with a mountain to climb heading into the return encounter.

Goals from Seidatu Wahab and Juliana Gyekyewaa, both from superb free-kicks, sealed another impressive victory for the Maidens, who have continued to show their attacking quality and defensive solidity throughout the qualifiers.

The team will now turn attention to a decisive showdown against Senegal for a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The first leg is scheduled to take place between July 3 and 5, with the return fixture set for July 10 to 12, 2026.

The winner over the two legs will secure qualification to the global tournament.

The Black Maidens head into the crucial tie in outstanding form, having scored 16 goals and conceded none in their four qualifying matches so far.
