Preparations for the Black Stars’ international friendly in Vienna were thrown into disarray after a robbery at their team hotel, Sporty FM have reported.
Ghana’s senior national team opened camp on Sunday, with training beginning the following day.
Trouble struck after Wednesday’s third session, when two players reported the theft of Rolex watches valued at $20,000.
The next day, a member of the technical staff discovered $2,250 in cash missing.
Team officials immediately alerted local authorities, but efforts to investigate were hampered after hotel management cited faulty security cameras.
However, the Black Stars Management Team has since involved the Vienna Police Authorities to help identify the perpetrators.
Despite the unsettling incidents, the Black Stars are set to face Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion this evening, with kick-off at 17:00 GMT.
Coach Otto Addo and his squad will then travel to Stuttgart to meet Germany on Monday, March 30.
These friendlies form part of Ghana’s final preparations ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
