World Rugby, in partnership with leading sports manufacturer Gilbert, has donated 200 rugby balls to Ghana Rugby in a significant boost to the sport’s grassroots development across the country.
The donation is expected to support training programmes and competitions nationwide, helping to nurture young talent and expand participation as interest in rugby continues to grow in Ghana.
President of Ghana Rugby, Rafatu Inusah, expressed deep appreciation to World Rugby and Gilbert for their unwavering support and confidence in the country’s rugby project.
She also acknowledged the role of key stakeholders whose commitment, she said, continues to drive progress within the sport.
“Each ball represents opportunity, growth and belief in the future of rugby in Ghana. Together, we are not just growing the game, we are shaping the next generation,” Inusah noted.
Ghana has in recent times hosted several national teams and club sides at the Legon Rugby Stadium, further underlining the sport’s rising profile and increasing local interest.
The Ghana Rugby Football Union has also received national recognition, earning honours at the Sports Excellence Awards. Inusah, who serves as an executive board member of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), is widely regarded as one of the country’s most industrious and forward-thinking sports administrators.
