The Confederation of African Football's (CAF) Disciplinary Board has levied a $15,000 fine on the Ghana Football Association in the aftermath of fan disturbances during the Africa Cup of Nations Match 4 clash between Ghana and Cape Verde on January 14, 2024.
According to the report from the Safety and Security Official, there was a clash between two factions of Ghanaian supporters at stand N°18 during halftime, which led to the deployment of tear gas.
The Disciplinary Board carefully reviewed all pertinent facts, allegations, legal arguments, and evidence before arriving at the decision.
The Ghana Football Association is obligated to settle the fine within 60 days of the decision date.
In response, the Ghana Football Association has urged both supporter groups and the entire Ghanaian community present in Cote d'Ivoire to exhibit exemplary behaviour in support of the Black Stars while adhering to the laws of the game.
Furthermore, the Ghana Football Association has committed to collaborating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, responsible for the supporters' travel to the tournament, and the leadership of the supporter groups to prevent any future incidents.
