Madagascar head coach, Nicolas Dupuis has named a 27-man squad for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers opener in June.
The Barea who are placed in Group E will open their campaign against Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium on June 1 before hosting the Palancas Negras of Angola at Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo four days later.
Coach Dupuis – who led Madagascar to their debut Afcon at Egypt 2019 where they made a quarterfinal finish – is back at the helm of affairs after leaving the job in April last year.
In his first squad, the French technician opted to name a mix of old and young players while a few new faces will also be making their debut with the national team.
Jerôme Mombris, Anicet Abel Andrianantenaina, Thomas Fontaine and Rajo Razafindrabe are all making a return to the squad.
Also receiving first-time call-ups include France-born Bayern Munich left-back Rèmy Vita who spent the current season on loan at English Championship side Barnsley and ex-France U20 player Jean Sylvio Ouasserio.
