Residents of Foase in the Atwima Kwanwoma District were left shocked on Thursday, November 5, 2026, after a 28-year-old man was discovered lying inside a coffin at the community's cemetery.
The man, identified only as Foster, operates a drug store in the area.
His discovery was reportedly made by a hunter who was passing through the cemetery when he noticed a coffin placed at the site. The hunter became suspicious after observing the unusual reaction of his dogs, which ran towards the coffin.
According to a resident, the hunter approached the coffin, pointed his gun at it and threatened to shoot whoever was inside. Foster subsequently emerged from the coffin.
“After seeing the coffin, his dogs ran to the coffin, so the hunter pointed his gun at the coffin and threatened to shoot whoever is in it, only for the man to come out of it,” the resident narrated.
A herbalist who was also in the area collecting herbs reportedly joined the hunter in escorting Foster from the cemetery into the community.
News of the incident quickly spread, attracting several residents who gathered to establish what had happened.
Some community members alleged that Foster had spent 3 days inside the coffin as part of a suspected money-making ritual, although the claim has not been independently established.
He was subsequently handed over to the police to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
