Ghana Premier League side, Berekum Chelsea have completed the signing of Solomon Asante on a free transfer until the end of the 2021/22 season, Kickgh.com has reported.
Asante has signed a one year deal with the Blues ahead of the second round of the 2021/22 season after ending his three-year stint with American club Phoenix Rising FC.
The 31-year-old, who rose to become Phoenix Rising FC captain, declined a contract extension offer to leave the Arizona state-based club after three years to rejoin Berekum Chelsea.
Berekum Chelsea have strengthened their squad list with the experienced winger to aid them excel in the Ghanaian top-flight league following their inconsistent results in the ongoing Premier League season.
Asante becomes the second high-profile footballer to make a return to the Ghana Premier League this year after former Inter Milan and AC Milan legend Sulley Ali Muntari sealed a move to Hearts of Oak.
He joined Phoenix Rising FC from Congolese top-flight league giants TP Mazembe on a free transfer in 2018.
Asante is regarded as a legend of the Phoenix Rising FC following his scintillating output during his three-year stint.
He scored 54 goals and provided 44 assists in his 114 appearances for Phoenix Rising FC in all competitions.
