Kasoa confirmed their legendary status as the emerging force in Zongo related activities when they defied all odds to lift the 2021 Sheikh Nuhu Osman Sharubutu Ramadan Cup at the Fadama Astro Turf Pitch.
As Debutants, Kasoa showed class in all their matches, mesmerising opponents with skills, speed and strength.
It was the first time the Eastern Central regional town was participating in the competition, but their super talented player made nonsense of the two previous champions of the Competition, edging Two time winners Ashaiman in a crunch semi-final clash.
On their way to the final, Kasoa defeated Tema Zongo, Dansoman’s Tunga, and Sukura, before setting a mouthwatering semi-final clash with Ashaiman, where they won through the penalty lottery, to set a final clash with Hon Peter Amewu’s Hohoe Zongo.
It took the ingenuity of the organisation of the competition to decide the winner of the game as an installed VAR system assisted the referee in a crucial decision early in the game.
The referee failed to spot a handball situation, but the vigilance of the VAR ensured he consulted the equipment before awarding a penalty that Kasoa converted to become champions of the much publicised Ramadan Cup.
The event attracted a lot of guests including Abedi Pele, the Youth &Sports Minister and others.
