Odartey Lamptey Opens Up On How Lack Of Education Affected His Career

Former Ghana international, Nii Odartey Lamptey has revealed that his lack of education during his playing career made him a lot of money.

The coach of Glow Lamp Soccer Academy played abroad for most parts of his career where he played in Europe, as well as Asia.

Speaking to Joy Sports on Saturday, the retired footballer has noted that his bad educational background led to him losing a lot of money.

Nii Odartey Lamptey narrated, “There were certain decisions I took then which I wouldn’t have taken now. The teams I chose to play for were okay and some of the money [salaries] were not coming to me due to my [bad] educational background until I got to know certain things. I thought Anderlecht was a good start for me. My education was poor. I couldn’t speak English or French”.

The ex-Black Stars forward continued, “Anderlecht gave me the educational background. They hired a teacher for me. I moved to PSV Eindhoven after that. They gave me something that kept me going. I think if I had started somewhere else, it would have been a bit difficult for me.”

Having hanged his boots, Odartey Lamptey is still in the football circles and is bent on making his Glow Lamp Soccer Academy the best in Ghana.
