At just 15, Uchechi Treasure Okonkwo, known as Adakirikiri, is stealing hearts in Nollywood and beyond.
The teen sensation, who stars in The Good Doctor, was discovered by her dad, director Okonkwo Chijioke Junior, while sharing her gospel music online.
She released her breakout 2019 single Okeosisi, which has since racked up over 2 million views on YouTube. Born on October 12, 2008, this Nigerian actress, gospel singer, dancer, producer, and performer is just getting started.
You might not have seen her before, but Uchechi’s no stranger to the spotlight. She kicked off her career at Just 8. Her first big role was in The Good Doctor (released in Ghana and Nigeria in 2021), where she played the daughter of a single mom navigating love and life in a hospital, starring alongside Jackie Appiah and Prince Chukwu. Before that, she dropped her breakout gospel single Okeosisi and built a following with songs like One with God and Jesus.
Why’s she a big deal now? Uchechi’s been called one of the nollywood’s most exciting teen talents, bringing a quiet intensity and natural charm to her roles. She recently won her second award at the 2024 Nigerian Travel Film Festival in Italy, and fans went wild when she asked Nollywood legend Nkem Owoh to bless her award—a moment that lit up social media for her wisdom and grace.
What’s next? “Acting, singing, and producing,” Uchechi shared on Instagram, where she also promotes her projects under Adakirikiri TV. She’s got big dreams, too: “I’m going to start directing soon,” she says, reflecting on her journey from child star to teen powerhouse. Signed with Boldline Entertainment, she’s balancing acting, dancing, and—oh yeah—sixth grade. Keep an eye on this one!
