THE two Asafo companies of the Effutu Traditional Area have called for peace during the celebration of this year's Aboakyer festival on May 6.
The two companies, Tuafo and Dentsifo Asafo Companies expressed concern about the level of violence that characterized the celebration of the previous festival and said that everything will be done to ensure total peace.
Obaatan Kwesi Armah-Sekum, spokesman of the group and leader of Tuafo Asafo Company addressing a news conference attended by the Asafo Companies advised Nenyi Ghartey, who he said had been destooled to step aside during the celebration of the festival to avoid any confusion with the Asafo groups.
That, he explained, would help to promote a peaceful atmosphere needed to promote tourism during the festival.
Obaatan Armah-Sekum was not happy that the Effutu Traditional Council had not been able to meet over the past 10 years because of the chieftaincy dispute.
He praised the current unity among the Asafo companies and criticised the Winneba Police for taking sides in the dispute, a situation that had compromised their neutrality and professionalism to maintain law and order.
Obaatan Armah-Sekum called on all citizens of the Effutu Traditional Area to unite towards the development of the town.
