The Accra Academy 1980 Old Boys Association, ‘Bl3oo 80’ has refurbished and handed over the North Gate project to the school's administration as part of activities to mark the 2019 Bleoobii Homecoming celebrations.

The ceremony which was held over the weekend brought together all past and present students of the school including the chairman of the Governing Council of the school, Mr. Wilson Tei.

The North Gate which connects to the Asere Ayitey Street on the Bubuashie side of the school has not been in the best of shapes and according to the chairman of the Bleoo 1980 year group Mr. Robert Kofiga, it needed a befitting facelift that would match the credentials of the noble school of gentlemen.

"Henceforth this beautiful edifice will give a befitting welcome to visitors to the noble school that has and continues to raise and shape the minds of great academicians for the country Ghana."

The almost a hundred thousand Ghana cedis project, he stated is one of the many huge infrastructural needs of the school and was happy the Bleoo 80 year group had managed to take it off the head of the school.

While making special mention of Dr. Victor Attuquaye Clottey, the project coordinator who happens to be the treasurer of Bleoo 80 year group for his perfect job of linking up with members to mobilise funds for this project, he congratulated all the honourable gentlemen of the year group both home and in the diaspora, for their financial and in-kind support to help see to the fruition of the project.

He urged the other year groups to also take a look at others area of infrastructural needs of the school and address it to help mould the school into one of the foremost in terms of infrastructural development, adding that "it is important to give back to the one institution that shaped the little minds and spurred them to become who they are today."

On his part, the current headmaster, Reverend William Garr, congratulated the group for their thoughtfulness stating that generations yet unborn would thank the Bleoo 80 group for this project.

Mr. Tei noted that the school needs a lot of infrastructural development including a housing facility for teachers on campus and urged all to put their minds to it and contribute to start the housing project for teachers in the school.
