Hundreds Join MTN Health Walk

Hundreds of people joined MTN staff last Saturday for a health walk.

The eight kilometer walk, saw the participants walk from the company's regional head office through some principal streets of Kumasi and ended at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The health walk is part of activities planned by the leading telecoms company to Mark this year's Ashantifest.

General Manager of Trade, MTN Northern Business District, Mr. Simon Amo who addresses journalists after the walk noted that MTN is very concerned about the health of their customers, and all Ghanaians for that matter.

“A healthy nation is a wealthy nation' he noted, adding that 'this is why MTN foundation has health as one of its main pillars of focus'.

There are certain illnesses according to him, that require some good sweat and the victim would be healed, hence 'we always want to encourage people to exercise and sweat some sicknesses off'.

To help customers gain more from the health walk, there was also free medical screening for all the participants.

“MTN wants to take the cost of our customers' health screening and diagnosis before referring them to medical centers for medication so we will all live strong and healthy lives”. Mr. Amo Stated.

Many of the participants expressed gratitude to MTN for organizing the health walk.

“It is quite lazying and difficult to walk this length by your own self but very easy when you are in the company of many others. Thanks to MTN, let's have it again sometime”. Julius Nkansah, a participant told this journalist.

Ashantifest is a month long celebration of MTN's customers in the Ashanti region. It is a period when staff join MTN Foundation to undertake voluntary community services.

The annual celebration has seen the staff paint special school, health facilities among others and also donate several items to needy health and educational facilities.
