Former Asawasi NDC Communication Officer, currently aspiring Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman, Yakubu Tony Aidoo, has issued a fiery warning over an alleged plan by NPP National Women’s Organiser Hawa Koomson to distribute pepper spray to party members, insisting that the NDC would not sit unconcerned if its supporters were attacked.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at the NDC Ashanti Regional Office, Aidoo alleged that Hawa Koomson had planned to distribute pepper spray to NPP members and warned that he would respond if NDC supporters became targets of such attacks.
Although he maintained that the NDC does not want violence, Aidoo declared that his side would retaliate if attacked.
“If she and the NPP attack us with pepper spray, we too will attack back with gas spray,” he warned.
The allegation has not been independently verified. Aidoo's remarks nevertheless add a confrontational tone to the political debate, with the aspirant urging restraint while warning against any attempt to intimidate NDC supporters.
