Members of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) have been urged to remain calm and focus in the heat of the disqualification of their flag bearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom from contesting the upcoming elections by the Electoral Commission.
According to the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Cape Coast North constituency, Mrs Sarah Bucknor, Dr Nduom will use the appropriate means to fight for his right to get his name appear on the ballot paper for the elections.
Mrs Bucknor stated this at a press conference she held at Kakumdo, a suburb of Cape Coast. She posited that in the event that Dr Nduom’s name and picture did not appear on the ballot paper for the December elections, the over hundred parliamentary candidates contesting for the party will still contest.
She, therefore, debunked what she called “baseless” allegations going round that all PPP parliamentary candidates have been disqualified too.
Mrs Bucknor called on all her supporters not to feel disappointed but intensify their campaign in the constituency to enable her to win the seat for the party.
She alleged that the PPP constitutes an existential threat to both the ruling party and the opposition NPP hence the decision by the Electoral Commission to deliberately reject their leader, Dr Ndoum.
The flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum was among the thirteen Presidential candidates who were disqualified from contesting in the upcoming elections.
Available information indicates that the party has sued the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the chair person, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, over the disqualification of the party.
