In the epistle dedicatory of the King James Version of the Holy Bible, the translators crowed, “but among all our joys, there was no one that more filled our hearts, than the blessed continuance of the preaching of God’s sacred Word among us; which is that inestimable treasure, which excelleth the riches of the earth.” They commended HM the king because the “contentment” of Christians “doth not diminish or decay, but every day increaseth and taketh strength, when they observe that the zeal of your Majesty toward the house of God doth not slack or go backward, but is more and more kindled …..” They praised HM for “writing in defence of the Truth {which hath given such a blow unto that man of sin, as will not be healed,} and everyday at home, by religious and learned discourse, by frequenting the house of God, by hearing the Word preached, by cherishing the Teachers thereof, by caring for the Church …” How different from today’s western political leaders like President Barack Obama of the United States, the poster boy of homosexuality and his camp followers Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain and French president Francois Hollande.

The father of scientific revolution, Galileo Galilei {1564 - 1642} was a most scientific marvel. This ex-university of Pisa, Italy, lecturer discovered many physical laws on which modern science is based. Galileo invented the hydrostatic balance, the first practical thermometer, the geometric and military compass, the compound microscope and the astronomical telescope. Galileo was the first man to see the mountains on the moon and the rings of Saturn.

His discovery that the sun revolved and that the earth and other planets rotated around the sun incurred the anger of a pope of the Catholic Church who forced him to recant. His paper The Dialogue published in 1632, brought him before the Inquisition, which accused him of failing to forsake this theory earlier propounded by Copernicus. Galileo Galilei, a true ambassador of science was also a quintessential Christian. To him, “the Holy Bible and the phenomenon of nature proceed alike from the Divine Word.” Praise God!

Leonardo da Vinci {1452 – 1519} is unarguably the world’s greatest genius. A Christian believer of the Holy Bible, he studied painting, music, science and maths. With this catholic taste for learning, he moved on to study the movement of the stars and the flight of birds. Da Vinci observed the patterns of water, wind, light and shadows.

An artist, scientist, engineer, architect, musician and inventor, da Vinci fantasised on airplanes, armoured tanks and other modern mechanical devices and drew sketches of them. His ideas were so well ahead of his time that many people ridiculed and scorned him. As a result, he kept these ideas private by writing backwards. Most of them were not invented until many years after he died.

A great thinker, da Vinci brought his astonishing faculty to paint Mona Lisa, the most famous painting in history. For the Last Supper, Galileo waited for days until the moment he felt he saw the revelation of the face of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the living God! Praise the Lord.
