.He that goes forth weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. (Psalms 126:6 RSV)
.Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer or ruler, she prepares her food in summer, and gathers her sustenance in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a vagabond, and want like an armed man. (Proverbs 6:6-11 RSV)
.A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. A son who gathers in summer is prudent, but a son who sleeps in harvest brings shame. (Proverbs 10:4-5 RSV)
.From the fruit of his words a man is satisfied with good, and the work of a man's hand comes back to him. (Proverbs 12:14 RSV)
.The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor. (Proverbs 12:24 RSV)
.A slothful man will not catch his prey, but the diligent man will get precious wealth. (Proverbs 12:27 RSV)
.The soul of the sluggard craves, and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. (Proverbs 13:4 RSV)
.In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to want. (Proverbs 14:23 RSV)
.Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger. (Proverbs 19:15 RSV)
..The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to want. (Proverbs 21:5 RSV)
.Do you see a man skilful in his work? he will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (Proverbs 22:29 RSV)
.Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going. (Ecclesiastes 9:10 RSV) < Sheol-grave, hell, pit>
.The man Jeroboam was very able, and when Solomon saw that the young man was industrious he gave him charge over all the forced labor of the house of Joseph. (1 Kings 11:28 RSV)
.Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:7;9 RSV)
.Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24 RSV)
