As a teenage pan-africanist, I seek to pay tribute to the late Theodosia Salome Okoh, the designer of the national flag of Ghana. This national heroine has left an indelible mark on the hearts of Ghanaians through her design of the national flag which has a symbolic meaning in the life of Ghana! And the tragic loss of this historical figure sends a pan-african message to our contemporary youth. What would we be individually remembered for in our country after our individual deaths?
Moreover, the national flag of Ghana has three horizontal colours, namely red, gold and green with a black star in the middle, i.e. the gold. The red colour signifies the toil and struggle of our gallant forefathers who shed their blood to attain independence for our country. The gold colour represents the mineral wealth of our country such as gold, diamond, bauxite, manganese etc. Also, the green colour signifies the rich forests or agricultural resources of our country. And the black star represents hope, aspirations and freedom for Africans or it signifies African unity.
Also, citizens of contemporary Ghana must continue the pan-african legacy of our forefathers in resisting neocolonialism. And it is expected of our country today to maximise the exploitation of our national resources to benefit of the masses. Again, our country must prioritise agriculture, and work to advance our agricultural sector to ensure food security and a profitable export sector. Lastly, Ghanaians have the pan-african responsibility to fuel our dimming black star, i.e. our country in order to remain the beacon of hope to all other blacks!

Black represents darkness. Whatever in darkness is very difficult to recognize. It is the reason why, economic, social, etc except political "UNITY' has eluded Ghana and Africa as whole. Try to find out about countries in Africa without black as a significant embodiment in their flags. The lady did well and would be remembered for generations to come. I suggest a day should be aside, not a holiday for her remenberance, whilst we think about black as darkness over our development and prosperity. G...
