Eid Ul Adha The Month Of Sacrifice And Peace---Imam Toure

Muslims the world over celebrated this year's Eid al Adha festivals in open mass congregational prayers on Saturday October 4. This followed the massive congregation of Muslim pilgrims at mount Arafat on October 3, in far away Saudi Arabia. The Hajj and EID ul Adha celebrations are in commemoration of the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his first and only son in obedience to Allah.

After the Eid congregational prayers Muslims sacrificed cows, goats, buffalo and camels but in Ghana the animal that was sacrificed the more and shared with neighbors and the needy is sheep. Food was also prepared and shared with friends' neighbors who are Muslims and non Muslims most of whom are needy in order for all of them to be happy together. This is meant to engender peace in all societies.

Almost all Imams in Ghana and the world over who led their congregations in prayers thanked Allah for the abundant mercies he bestows to them and the people of the world allowing us to observe the Eid in peace and concord. The Imam of Ashongman Estates Mosque Sheikh Ibrahim Toure on his part appealed to all nations in conflict to desist from the wars they are engaged in and live in peace.

In a Hutba (Sermon) at Ashongman Estates prayer grounds Imam Toure praised Allah for keeping all Muslims at the congregation alive to witness this great day. He prayed for Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of Muslims. He took the opportunity to say Asalaam Alaikum (May the peace and blessings of Allah be with all Muslims) all over the world who are celebrating this great day.

The topic for the sermon by the Imam was “Mohammed the messenger of peace” saying that the word peace has been mentioned in the Quran 138 times in 47 different sura or passages. The subject is very important in every person's life. Each and every one wants to live in peace and harmony. Many were seeking peace though wrong channels and were unable to find it” he said

Dear Muslims',
As you are aware, the Imam said, “the religion of Islam is the religion of peace and Muslims are those who try to live in peace in all aspects of life. One of Allah's attributes is that HE IS THE PEACE. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) came with the message peace,i.e the message of Islam.

“I will try to summarize the highlights of the message of peace that Prophet Mohammed came with.

“Allah subhana wa ta aallah invite and encourage people to live in peace and yet people are suffering dying from the hands of fellow human beings. He who accepts the invitation will be guided by Allah (SWT). the Quran states in surah yunus the following: “And God does call to the home of peace: He does guide those he pleases to a way that is straight”.

“The other type of peace that prophet (pbuh) brought through Islam is peace with the spouses, peace between parents and children ,peace with extended family , peace with neighbors ,peace with the societies, peace with the creatures , peace with other prophets and peace with the environment.

“Fellow Muslims,
There are hundreds and millions of people in the world who are searching for peace and tranquility. They will never attain peace till they embrace and accept the religion of peace. Therefore it is the responsibility of Muslims who have accepted Islam to bring peace. These people include kings' and queens, presidents, mayors, members of parliament workers and commoners .It is also their responsibility to work for and establish peace in all the society they dwell in.

“Dear Muslims,
“As far as peace in paradise is concerned, we are told that the residence of the believer's paradise is called the house of peace. Moreover the message of Prophet Mohammed was the message of peace with justice. It has its universal standards that emitted from the source of peace namely Allah (SWT). Peace can only be established if all the segments of life hereafter and universe are taken into consideration. It should be stated here that creatures in the whole universe submitted themselves willingly to the will of Allah and are living in peace concord and harmony.

“WE hope and pray that we will try our best to live in peace so that we will earn the pleasure and the blessings of Allah SWT. We Hope we are among those whom Allah has accepted and is pleased with. Let us pray for Allah's guidance mercies and forgiveness. Amennn
